On August 26, 2019, OverDrive notified library partners that we would be discontinuing support for the OverDrive for Mac desktop app. On September 4, OverDrive removed the app from app.overdrive.com and eliminated the download option for MP3 audiobooks on Mac via your library’s OverDrive website. Sora, by OverDrive is an Android Education App that is developed by OverDrive, Inc. And published on Google play store on NA. It has already got around 10,000+ downloads so far with an average rating of 3.0 out of 5 in play store.
- How to Borrow and Listen to Audiobooks Using OverDrive App. OverDrive library Audiobooks are available on all major devices including Android, iPhone, iPad, Kindle Fire, Windows and Mac. There are four choices for you to get started with OverDrive library. New Libby app (recommended for public library users).
- About OverDrive for Mac. OverDrive for Mac is available for macOS versions 10.6 (Snow Leopard) through 10.14 (Mojave). If you're running one of these macOS versions, you can use OverDrive for Mac to download, listen to, and transfer MP3 audiobooks from your library.
You can use the OverDrive app to borrow and enjoy digital titles from your library. The OverDrive app is available for Android, Chromebooks, iOS, Fire tablets, and Windows 8/10.
Step 1
Install the OverDrive app from your device's app store or from overdrive.com/apps/overdrive.
Step 2
Open the OverDrive app and follow the prompts to sign in (or sign up) using your library card or a free OverDrive account. Learn which sign-in option is right for you.
If you're under 13, you can use one of the under-13 sign-in options.
Step 3
In the OverDrive app, find your library's digital collection (see specific steps for Android [including Fire tablets], Chromebooks, iOS, or Windows 8/10).
Once you've found it, click or tap the collection name to start browsing. This will also automatically save the collection to your library list in the app.
Step 4
Borrow a title (you'll need to sign into your library to complete this step).
Step 5
After you borrow a title, you can:
- Select Read now with Kindle (U.S. only) to complete checkout on Amazon's website and send the book to your Kindle device or Kindle reading app.
- Select Download to download EPUB ebooks and MP3 audiobooks to the app Bookshelf.
- Select Add to bookshelf to add streaming videos to the app Bookshelf (Android, Chromebooks, and iOS only) or Watch now in browser to open them right in your web browser (most other devices).
- Select Read now in browser to open magazines, read-alongs, or MediaDo Reader ebooks right in your web browser.
- Close the pop-up window to keep browsing and borrowing.
To see all of your borrowed titles, tap to go to your library Loans page.
To open the titles you downloaded or added to the app, go to your app Bookshelf.

Tips for using Overdrive Digital Library
Please note: Effective March 2020, the holds procedure will be improved to allow various hold choices. Items will not auto-checkout. The system will allow you to borrow the title within 3 days, or suspend a hold, or cancel a hold.
Checkouts Periods & Limits
Items checkout for 7, 14 or 21 days depending on your personal settings. After the selected time period the book license expires and the book is returned automatically. Never an overdue book.
Five items can be checked out at a time and seven items can be placed on hold.
You can checkout Overdrive ebooks, audiobooks and magazines (soon!) many ways. From your browser with the Overdrive Digital Library link, through one of the Apps, and through the library general materials catalog. So many options means something for everyone, but it also begs the question which way is best? It depends on your devices and habits. If you want a particular title and the format doesn't matter - print or ebook or audiobook, then the library catalog is for you. Check your Overdrive item out and then retrieve from your favorite APP or read in the browser of your device.
